"Tetrarchic and Other Hoards"




Eleanor Ghey is a curator in the Department of Money and Medals at the British Museum with responsibility for Iron Age and Roman coin hoards reported as potential Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996. This role includes reporting and advising on new discoveries and she has researched and published hoards and site assemblages from the British Isles. Her background and doctoral research was in archaeology and she worked at a number of UK museums prior to joining the British Museum in 2007. Recent publications include Hoards: Hidden History (2015), the jointly authored Iron Age and Roman Coin Hoards in Britain (2020) and the edited volume Recent Discoveries of Tetrarchic Hoards from Roman Britain and their Wider Context (2024).
